Ok, here is the deal.

Friday, February 13th, 2009 I may buy either a 360 OR a PS3. I'm sort of against 360 because of the high failure rate...but I'm against PS3's high price rate. But I don't have much of a choice between HD consoles (Wii isn't pure HD, sorry...and I still can't find one anyway).

SO..PS3 vs 360. What do you like about your 360/PS3 and what do you not like about it? Have you had any problems from it?

I'm also doing this to know what seems to be the most popular console among my friends so I don't get stuck out of the loop. :P Obviously that'd probably be a 360 or a Wii but I can't find a Wii and 360's making me second guess it. :/

Please only answer if you have one OR if you have played one longer than 2 weeks (seriously... I need like..some good solid facts and reviews).

I will remove negative comments.

Thanks.

Costco has Wiis fairly frequently. That's where I got mine.

Don't you need like a membership card for Costco? Plus I'm not exactly sure if my ride will take me out there. =/

I'll check on that though, thanks!

You can shop there without a membership, but they add a 5% surcharge.

Amazon.com appears to have them in stock at the moment. http://www.amazon.com/Wii-nintendo/dp/B0009VXBAQ/

Hmm...I'll look into that but I'm not sure if my ride can get me there, I'll have to ask tomorrow.

Thanks for your input though. :)

You might want to give them a call first. It's generally hit or miss; sometimes they have them, sometimes they don't. Saturday morning seems to be when I've seen them the most often. They rarely have any in the afternoon.

Hm...I can't go this Saturday, need to work on my final GED test.

There's always plenty of cross-platform game development, but at this point we've bought and played more games for the 360. We have admittedly had it for longer, but even our most recent purchases were 360. The PS3 is great if you have any intention of getting blu-ray, though. And it does have the new Ratchet & Clank which is, of course, awesome. I do believe Microsoft offers 3 year coverage on the red ring now, too.

Hmm...the Blu-Ray aspect is interesting, but I don't see DVD going away yet what with digital downloading becoming so popular. So I don't know if that's a moving factor for me just yet.

But the fact you're playing 360 more is more interesting for me..hm..

I agree DVD isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Just, if you have the HDTV, blu-ray is really quite amazing. Planet Earth was the first thing Jason picked up -- so gorgeous to watch.

Last year we got a 360. It was a easy choice for us since we had the money to get either one. 360 has live and it handles that very well. I get to keep up with my friends. We did get the Elite because we heard those have a less likely chance of crapping out and we also wanted the hard drive space seeing how there would be 3 of us on it. Also the 360 had a awesome selection of games and we bought movies on it too. Blueray is the only real reason to buy a PS3 (to me) so it may be awhile before I would get that. Thats my 2 cents

Hm... I agree there with the Blu-Ray currently being the only reason for a PS3. Hm...the Elite? Why is that exactly?

It cost more as you get more. I heard they test the parts much harder to make sure nothing will go wrong. So what I heard and I stress heard, is that their high end dollar one gets their attention first.

Ya.. makes sense. =/ I'll probably get an Elite if I get a 360.

I'd not heard this, but I'm all the more pleased we went with the Elite :-D

The high failure rate of the 360 doesn't bother me.
Microsoft provides a 3 year warranty on that particular issue and California has warranty tolling. The amount and variety of 360 games (just about any PS3 game I want is on the 360 and not vice versa). The online experience despite not completely free is completely worth the duckets too.

But I dun live in Cali though...what's warranty tolling? But, you do have a point about 360 having most PS3 games.

How long has your 360 lasted?

Warranty tolling means that everyday that a product is in repair under warranty, not including shipping time, the warranty is extended to match those days. Think of it as giving products snow days, with snow days being repair time.

And I don't know really. I just use it and not think about it. It went in for a red ring but I'm not worried if it'll do it again. *shrugs*

Point is, things break. Some a lot more than others. Skydivers don't let the chance of death keep them from getting that high, you know?

The 360 fails a lot, but at least it has games.
