I was originally going to just upgrade the processor, motherboard, and graphics card in this PC that I got from ACER but...I'd have to buy a new case anyway so I figure I might as well just go all out. ._.

So here we go. Thanks to Bret (who has no account here), Torin Darkflight, TwileDragon, Alclave, and Pandaman for input on this.

First, I'm going to upgrade to an Intel Core 2 Duo processor to take care of the hassle of upgrading my processor later if/when I upgrade to Vista Ultimate.

Changed the motherboard from one with on-board video to one without on-board video to it cheaper. It also has surround sound built in so no need for a sound card.

Decided on a DX10 capable card that's GDDR4 memory standard, it's better than 360 and PS3 (and can play games in 1080p without problems).

NOTE: I do not care about ATI vs NVIDIA, so don't start whining about what's better, thanks. >_>; If you think I should switch to NVIDIA over ATI or vice-versa, gimmie a good reason cause I like ATI.

Still thinking on the PC's name...since Win 2000 PC was Reptar, then this PC is Reptar XP...maybe Reptar HD? D:

All i can say is don't get your hopes up too much, That card won't be able to run anything in DX10 at 1080p, though DX9 games should be playable without going too overboard on AA/settings.

S'ok. As long as I can do Aero settings and still play DX10 games (doesn't HAVE to be 1080p), I'm good. :X

Even then i think it might struggle, and if you are having to low the res and details under DX10 the games will only look worse than the DX9 mode anyway.

I run a 8800GTX (overclocked to 621/2000) currently and even this can barely run DX10 games at 1920*1200. I tried farcry at max details and got 5 FPS.

Ya on AIM now? I'm looking into DX10 cards and whatnot and found some nice NVIDIA...I honestly have nothing against them, it's just a fear of the unknown type thing.

I'll IM ya so we can talk PC. D:

Additionally, been looking through NDIVIA's stuff on NewEgg...this one doesn't seem too bad, and it's $3 cheaper. XD

All those big numbers and letters automatically make me assume that must be a good computer?

Ya, it's an okay PC. it's pretty decent for a custom PC with the Core 2 Duo processor. The graphics card is kinda iffy though.
